New River Gorge Attractions
Bridge Day High Line
The Bridge Day high line rider slides seven hundred (700') feet down a rope from the New River Gorge Bridge's catwalk to the Fayette Station Road, two hundred and fifty feet (250') below. The speed of the rider is controlled by a belayer.
The high line was first done off the New River Gorge Bridge in 1994. A 2200' high line was set up across the New River Gorge in 2001. In 2002, the highline was offered on an annual basis so that the general public would have the ooportunity to actively participate in an adventure off the New River Gorge Bridge that did not require skill or experience. The high line rider receives an orientation, safety briefing, and is outfitted with the proper equipment. Space is limited.
